Mark brings over 20 years of coding expertise to Bamboo, from developing payroll systems to crafting bespoke websites that are fast, flexible, and easy to use. Heading the Folkestone branch, Mark ensures every site is built to the highest standards, complementing Simon’s designs with exceptional technical execution. Together, Simon and Mark form the backbone of Bamboo, delivering seamless design and code that exceed expectations.

The Bamboo Story
The Bamboo Journey: From Digitalink Consultants to Bamboo Manchester
2001 – Digitalink Consultants
Founded in 2001
We started as Digitalink Consultants, a name inspired by the concept of linking “digital” with “ink.” While the idea was creative, the name caused confusion—clients often thought we were Digital Inc Consultants. Spelling the name out became a challenge, and we soon realized a rebrand was in order.
2003 – 5hq
Rebranded to 5hq
Inspired by our close-knit team of five, we became 5hq. While the name was simple and reflected our team spirit, it led to more questions: “Is it 5hq or fivehq?” Despite owning both domains, the uncertainty around the name continued, prompting another rebrand.
2007 – Bamboo Solutions
Rebranded to Bamboo Solutions
When we founded the business in 2001, it was called Digitalink Consultants—a nod to the concept of blending “digital” with “ink” in a creative space. But there was a hitch: over the phone, people often thought we were saying Digital Inc Consultants. To make matters worse, spelling it out became a recurring challenge.
2010 – A Fresh Bamboo
Evolution to a fresher brand!
We refined the Bamboo Solutions brand with a greener, more vibrant logo, giving it a fresh, modern look to reflect our evolution. We transitioned to a fully digital agency, focusing on helping businesses thrive through powerful online solutions and marketing strategies.
2014 – Shockingly Good Websites

As our youthful business boomed, we refreshed our branding once more to reflect our playful, northern approach. This era was all about standing out with bold, creative language and showcasing the exceptional quality of our work.
2019 to Today – Bamboo Manchester
All in Manchester
We became Bamboo Manchester, moving our domain to BambooManchester.uk to better align with our focus on supporting Manchester businesses, councils, and charities. While our name evolved, our commitment to delivering outstanding results for clients remained unchanged.
Today – Bamboo Manchester + Folkestone

We’ve finessed our brand with modern tools like AI for generating creative imagery and content, while staying true to our roots with hand-crafted designs. We’ve brought Manchester’s bold creativity to Folkestone’s innovative spirit, expanding our reach while staying true to our roots in hand-crafted design and development. From the North to the South, Bamboo continues to symbolise strength, balance, and growth—delivering exceptional results to clients across the UK with the same passion and dedication that started our journey in 2001.
